By leveraging emerging digital technologies of topology optimisation and advanced manufacturing, we propose a contemporary evolution of Nervi’s pioneering techniques for designing and constructing ribbed floor systems. A 2.2 m × 2.2 m × 2.5 m ribbed floor unit is constructed as a proof of concept.
